As some of you may or may not know, I have a not-so-secret obsession with America. This is down to being lucky enough to visit each year. Recently, I have been planning next years trip (it's sort of become mine and my dad's job) which I absolutely love doing, and it occured to me that I have no record of my favourite places per state I've visited. Although I can remember now, in 10 years I may not be able to remember specifically so I decided to document it here. To date, I have visited 17/50 states. Arizona: This is my absolute favorite state which I call home. There are many amazing places such as the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon (Page), Sedona & Tombstone however I have to say Scottsdale has to be my favorite (unsurprisingly I know). As I spend most of my time here, I know the area really well. The shops are always tidy and modern. Without a doubt, I always feel safe there, I never feel like there's an element of danger. The weather is always warm with an occasional thunderstorm, which I love! Where we stay has a community pool however as there is hardly anyone there, no one is ever in the pool which makes it feel like our own private pool. California: I love California, the north especially. My favourite place would be San Francisco however, Disney, Los Angeles & Hollywood are close seconds. The Golden Gate Bridge is so relaxing despite the traffic going across the bridge, especially with the water below it. California has lots of diverse geography, there are alpine mountains, foggy coastlines, hot deserts and vineyards. It is also home to the lowest point in the 48 contiguous states, Death Valley, which literally is nothing but a desert. Colorado: Denver is the capital of Colorado and is a very relaxed city. My favourite place however, has to be Aspen. Although we visited in the summer, the city of Aspen was very welcoming and pretty. My family and I rode the ski pod up to the top of the slope to admire the view which was breathtaking. It wasn't too busy however there was always a buzz to the place Florida: This is one of the main tourist places in America and to be completely honest, I wasn't that impressed. The weather is incredibly humid and uncomfortable, especially when walking around theme parks. My favourite place would have to be the theme parks in Orlando since I am a massive roller coaster enthusiast. I also did enjoy Naples where we went on a boat ride to see alligators which was then followed by Miami beach. I am very thankful that I got the chance to go there and I did enjoy it, however I don't know if I'd go again, maybe in ten years or so. Idaho: I haven't fully explored Idaho yet, however my favorite place is Idaho falls. The falls are really relaxing and don't require you to spend the whole day there since they're only pretty small. We only spent around 30 minutes there. The black rock of the falls makes the water really stand out. At first when we were planning our trip, I thought it was going to be boring and pointless however I am really glad we visited because it was simply stunning! Massachusetts: I'm sure you've heard of the Boston Tea Party, well this is what we went to see, along with the Cheers entrance for my dad. It's one of the oldest and most historic cities in North America. It has a very European feel, and it tries rather hard to preserve all it's history. t's extremely wealthy with some of the top universities on the planet - primarily in technology/heath care and banking - but has lots of blue-collar roots. It's very densely packed, it's extremely walkable with great public transportation. Though Boston is quite unique, if one had to compare it to other cities in the US & Canada, Chicago is probably the first to come to mind. Montreal and San Francisco next. Montana: When I was younger, I was never a fan of national parks so if my 10 year old self could see me writing this, they'd think I'd have gone mad. Yellowstone is stunning. The colours of the geysers stand out from the dark green trees. When Old Faithful Geyser went off, it was surreal and even at 13 I could appreciate it's beauty. We easily spent a day here and I would highly recommend visiting, even if it's not your thing it is still stunning. Nebraska: The rumours are true, there is nothing there. It is very sparse and full of crops. I am sure there are lots of stunning places I haven't visited there but from where I have visited, there isn't much there. We stayed in a place called Sidney and it was very sparse, almost to the point you kept checking you had enough fuel and hoping the car wouldn't break down Nevada: Vegas baby! Las Vegas strip is energetic, fun, flash and over the top. The surrounding area of Vegas however is run down and unsafe so I wouldn't recommend going there. The strip however is fine as long as you make sure you're not pick pocketed (really selling it aren't it?). It has fabulous hotels such as the Venitian and Monte Carlo which include some great shops. New Hampshire: We only passed through New Hampshire however it is beautiful. Anywhere you go in New England has trees for miles and it doesn't really ever get boring. New Mexico: Tent rocks is a very rustic, adventurous place and I absolutely loved climbing through the rocks. I wish we had spent more time there but we had to get to our hotel. Santa Fe was also well kept and very inviting New York: I absolutely love New York, both the city and upstate. The Top of the Rock was so pretty and gave you the views you were looking for, I felt at one with the world there and noticed how small everything really is. We also went on a boat ride in the Hudson so we could go past the Statue of Liberty. In my opinion, I wouldn't go to the top of the statue as the views aren't that great and it's a large chunk of your day gone. I also loved Niagra Falls and the drive up to the falls. The scenery was beautiful and I would highly recommend! South Dakota: Mount Rushmore is my favourite monument I have been to so far, I would go back in a heartbeat. We took a cable car up to a mountain to see it from a far and the next day we actually entered the park to see it up close. Utah: The arches national park is great for those who like then outdoors since you have the opportunity to climb up the arches which I did. At one point I was sat on a sheer drop however it was really enthralling to be in risk of danger. Vermont: There are so many mountainous areas which is no wonder since it is well known for skiing. It is a very rural area with trees surrounding you at all times. The houses are 'typical american' as my dad would say since they have the stereotypical white picket fence but the area is simply stunning. Wyoming: Cody is very similar to Tombstone in which there is a wild western theme. This was where I experienced my first ever bull fight, I didn't think I was going to like it but honestly it was a lot of fun, especially since no one got hurt That's all for today my lovelies!
