Welcome back my lovelies! I hope you are all doing well! For me, autumn is without a doubt my favourite season. When you feel that first crisp breeze, you know that summer is gone and autumn is in the air. Every season has its upside; however, autumn has a particular beauty to it. I love all of the burnt oranges and reds which are incorporated into clothes, homewear, and makeup looks. As I am always cold, I love being able to wrap up in blankets and coats which although it sounds a lot like winter, the temperate outside is less bitter. Autumn has so much to give, and so in honour of the season, I compiled a list of a few of the things I love about it. Leaves & Nature: The one timestamp I have for autumn is just when the leaves start to turn yellow and orange. To see the canopy of red, gold, and orange leaves is so enchanting. The crisp leaves crunching underfoot is so captivating, especially when the trees are all around you. In late September m family and I went on a nature walk where I was able to take some great photographs of the turning leaves. I was also lucky enough to capture some acorns both on and off the trees. Pumpkin Spice: I know how typical this my sound, but I honestly love pumpkin spice hot chocolate especially since it reminds me of a small coffee shop my family and I used to go to in Somerset. I think it's such a warm, cosy drink compared to something like mint which may be more intense. I also love the smell, it literally smells like autumn in a mug. Jumpers & Cardigans: There is nothing better than waking up and just being able to throw a cosy jumper on without wondering whether you're going to be too warm or cold. Sometimes if I'm feeling particularly cold I'll throw a tank top on underneath to give me some insulation, but other than that I don't find I need anything else. Thick cardigans are a godsend too since they can make any outfit look stylish whilst adding a bit of warmth. They are also lighter than a coat and so easier to wear or even carry. Blankets, blankets & more blankets: I don't think anyone will ever understand my love of a good blanket. Surprisingly blanket wraps are really quite warm and look amazing! My favourite thing to do is wrap up on my bed in a blanket, turn the fairy lights on, watch a tv series on my iPad (I'm currently watching White Collar for the fourth time) with a cup of tea, and just unwind. Scents I don't know about you, but I absolutely love warm vanilla and cinnamon scents in autumn and winter. I find they have a certain comfortness to them and make you feel warm and cozy (which I am aware is becoming a theme in this post). Burning candles already has an aesthetic to them and so by having a scent that relaxes you too is a win-win. Colours Those who know me well know that all I've worn for the past few weeks is mustard, burgundy, orange, khaki & black. These are absolute staple colours and each day and always feature at least 1. At the moment I am absolutely obsessed with my mustard bag which I use everyday at college (thanks Jenny & Shaan) which I often pair with my mustard tassel earrings from next and a burgandy top. I am also loving a dark lipstick paired with a red smokey eye since I think it looks dramatic and yet warming. Weather Hazy mornings & dark nights are literally perfection. I love to wake up to the crisp, foggy, dewy air and as crazy as it sounds, it honestly makes me more motivated for the day. Yes, although I am cold, I know it'll warm up soon and there's nothing I love more than having my hands wrapped around a flask of tea on my way to college. Not to forget the sunrises and sunsets, these are absolutely breathtaking especially when it features pinks and reds. I also think there's a certain finesse in forests with fog especially as I get a Halloween vibe from the dark clouds and mist. Halloween More specifically pumpkins, for some reason, I am obsessed with pumpkins this year. I just think small pumpkins can add such a dynamic edge to your room. Although I do like Halloween, I don't dress my room for it like I would Christmas but I do dress up and do my makeup if going to a Halloween party. I think it's such a creative period to really find your makeup style and looks which for me is the best bit! That's all for today! See you soon, Em xx
